Apocalyp2 by the South Erie Rockers - Where Blues, Rock-n-roll, Country, Bluegrass & Americana meet. Folkish rock with shades of country, it's hard to characterize the South Erie Rockers. This makes them unique in a world filled with millions of singers and song.
Picture an 100 year oak tree, down an old country road with branches and leaves of bluegrass & Americana, and roots deep in a ground of Michigan influences such as early Motown R&B, Rockabilly, and classic Rock-n-roll. Hard to stereotype, the South Erie Rockers do not fall into any one musical genre. If there was a genre labeled harmonica blues, that might be their best placement.
In their second effort, Apocalyp2 delivers a more cohesive set of songs, while continuing their eclectic mix of influences. Musically, they incorporate their usual plethora of instruments. A listeners' ears will tune to a wide range of guitars, mandolins, banjos, pianos, organs, & harmonicas. Each song is emphasized with solid acoustic drum tracks and a rainbow of percussive instrumentation. Bright flowing bass lines accent both simple and complex melodies.
By topic, Apocalyp2 by the South Erie Rockers, provides a vertiginous and bewildering abstract view of the post covid world, full of mass hysteria, fatalism, delusional mass psychosis, greed & selfishness, mayhem, anarchy, political chaos & polarization, war & nuclear destruction, hyper over sensitivity, darkness and despair. The South Erie Rockers poetic lyrics are full of sarcastic diabolical quips and statements relevant to a world where decadence, doom, decay & pessimism do battle with love and eternal hope. Will the world dissolve into wars of race, greed, and religious beliefs OR can a new day dawn from over the horizon - a rebirth of form and human spirit. Ultimately, will we choose peace or security ?
