Frankfort North Breakwater was built in 1932. The 67-foot high pyramidal-shaped tower sits atop a square 2-story base, and connected to the mainland by a concrete breakwater. The light shines through a Fifth-Order Fresnel lens manufactured by Barbier, Benard & Turenne of Paris. The tower marks the entrance to Lake Betsie from Lake Michigan. Viewing is recommended from shore, as this is an extremely hazardous area due to Lake Michigan's waves sweeping over the breakwater
